Potty Training is Not All That it is Cracked Up to Be.

Who would have guessed that princess stickers is what it takes to get a toddler to go number 2 on the potty. I wasn't trying to motivate her or persuade her to go potty by any means.. I just happened to have 5 princess stickers. I wanted to make sure Elsie wasn't potty trained until after February 16th. We are going to Disneyland with my family February 12-15 & I really don't want to deal with having to wait in long lines so Elsie can use the potty. First of all I was pretty much scarred for life last time we were at Disneyland. I was waiting in line to use the restroom & there was a four year old waiting in line with her mother a few places up. Finally it was their turn to go in an open stall & before they could make it over to the stall the little girl peed her pants. There was pee everywhere. I felt so bad for the mother. I never want to have to deal with that. Secondly I HATE public restrooms. I am an absolute germaphobe (maybe not so extreme but still). Because I didn't want it to happen, it's happening. She is pretty much potty trained now. Isn't it funny how that works?

(The sippy and the book are prizes she got to pick out for filling up two potty charts)

Aside from Elsie deciding to be interested in going both pee and poo any chance she gets, I absolutely hate potty training! ugh!! It's not because it's hard or because I'm trying to force it. It's because Elsie wants to stay in the bathroom all day long. But I have other things I need to get done. I don't have the time (& let's be honest.. the patience) to stay with Elsie in the bathroom all day. I'm definitely not going to trust my almost 2 year old to be in the bathroom by herself though. If I had my way, this whole potty training thing would be put off until she was at least 3. I don't know if 3 year olds play in the bathroom & make messes or not.. but it seems like they would be old enough to know better.  Also I am sick and tired of Elsie running around naked most of the time. She refuses to wear anything & it is driving me nuts!!

She loves putting stickers on her potty chart and sometimes I feel like she forces herself to go just so she can get a princess sticker. She has filled up two potty charts now and is well on her way to finishing her third potty chart. Dee told her when she is officially potty trained, she can get one of those Light & Sound Drive Along Ride On car things that she always sees at Walmart. I'm not sure if she completely understands that but a promise is a promise. We are 25 stickers (out of 33) away from getting her Ride On car.. Unless she is still having accidents after this potty chart.. She will be so excited! I would say "I can't wait" but I actually really can wait.. ha!

That's all for now!
